Akshaya Patra Vrindavan Kitchen

The Akshaya Patra Foundation, a secular, non-profit organization is in a public private partnership with the Indian government and is currently feeding 1.3 million underprivileged children per day in government-owned schools in nine states across India.  This constitutes 1 per cent of the 120 million children that the government scheme covers – a figure very significant for one single NGO to do. Akshaya Patra's work has created very wide ranging social impact among the children of poor and marginalized communities who go to government schools in India. For some of these children, this is the only full meal they eat every day.

The uniqueness of this programme is that Akshaya Patra is able to achieve scale through indigenous designed technology.  To give an example of the scale we work to, our centralized kitchens are capable of cooking 150000 meals in 6 hours.  We have 15 such kitchens and our kitchens in North India are capable of turning out 40000 rotis per hour through indigenous designed machines.
