Hello everyone! My name is Alexander Svitych and I'm glad to join the Global Minds initiative.
I am a 29-year-old enthusiastic person from a small town of Pavlograd in Ukraine. My educational background includes the School of Foreign Languages (Kharkiv University, Ukraine), a one-year exchange program in the US (Concordia College, Moorhead) and a Master's program in International Relations and European Studies (Central European University, Hungary). My first employment experience dates back to the spring of 2006 when I made my first steps as an interpreter in Ukraine. Since the end of 2008 I have been working in Budapest, my current position being a Customer Service Represenative at a global American company.
My interests and hobbies include foreign languages, politics and international relations, including publishing analytical articles on international relations in my personal blog. I'm also a prospective political science researcher, and my main research interests include nation-building, identity-formation, fading away of nation-states and construction of corporation-states in the post-modern world.
My other interests are martial arts, guitar-playing, and reading. I generally perceive myself as citizen of the Universe, and love exploring new cultures and travelling, especially via couch-surfing. My motto has been “Never stop learning”. Last but not least, I am really inspired by doing community service.
The Global Minds platform seems to be a perfect platform for voicing one's opinion on global issues and exchanging it with others. I totally agree with the project's standpoint that today’s most pressing challenges are global in nature. And I am responding to this with a quote by Pink Floyd: “Together we stand, divided we fall”. I wish everyone productive work and many insights in your sphere of expertise.
